Friday Five: Easy Christmas Crafts

Share:

December means that the holiday break from school is right around the corner. Two weeks home with the kids can leave you wondering how to keep them busy. At school, I love to do holiday crafts with my students but they have to be easy when you’re making 22 of them! So this week I’ve put together 5 easy Christmas crafts!

5 Easy Christmas Crafts

Easy Christmas Crafts - Snowman Ornament1. Snowman Ornament

What you need:

Clear ornaments
Fake snow
Paint Pens or Permanent Markers

What you do:

Fill the ornaments with fake snow then draw a face on the ornament with paint pens or permanent markers.

Melted Snowman Ornament2. Melted Snowman Ornament

What you need:

Orange Pipe Cleaner
Black beads
Hot glue gun
Elastic thread
Aluminum foil

What you do:

  1. Cut a 6″ length of elastic thread and knot the two ends together in an overhand knot to become your ornament hanger.
  2. Lay a piece of foil on your work surface. Place the hanger on the foil with the knot facing downward.
  3. Prep the nose by cutting a 3/4″ piece of orange pipe cleaner and folding it into a V shape.
  4. Start squeezing out a blob of hot glue directly on your foil, gluing over the knot of your hanger but leaving the loop extending above the glue blob. The finished size should be 2 – 2 1/2″ round but make it uneven and drippy looking since the snowman is melting.
  5. While the glue is still hot, place the two open ends of the pipe cleaner into the center of the glue to form the snowman’s nose. Place two black beads above the nose for eyes and 5 or 6 beads below the nose to form the mouth. It may help to poke the beads into the glue with a toothpick.
  6. Let the glue cool and harden then place your snowman in the freezer for a couple of hours. When the snowman is very cold, slowly peel the foil off the back. Freezing the snowmen makes them easier to peel off the foil.
