Blue Orange Games believes that the simple pleasure that comes from sharing good times with friends and family around a great game is golden. I definitely agree with this, especially around the holidays. We can all get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of the parties and the shopping. It’s important to take time to be with the ones you love. What better way to spend some quality time together than around a board game making memories?
For the past 10 years, Blue Orange has been creating high quality games for families that are durable and eco-friendly. They plant two trees for each tree that is used in the construction of Blue Orange Games! They aim to create classic games and have won over 50 industry awards in the past five years!
We had the opportunity to play Zimbbos from Blue Orange. Zimbbos is a building game that can help develop balance, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity skills. It’s easy to play which makes it great for younger children.
To play, you simply stack the elephants and other pieces! The goal is to be the person who places the #10 Elephant on the top of the stack without the pyramid falling over. Sounds simple, right? Well, it’s a bit more complicated than that!
Each player rolls the die and has to place the corresponding number of elephants on the pyramid. If you roll the star on the die then you have to place a balancing bar or a joker (non-elephant) piece on the pyramid and that’s when things get tricky!
When placing the elephants they have to be placed in numerical order although they can be placed in any position. The key is figuring out how to keep everything balanced as the pyramid grows taller! Then the player who places the final elephant on the pyramid without making it fall is the winner!
Zimbbos from Blue Orange Games is an all wooden, high quality building game that requires good hand-eye coordination and some logical thinking while being a blast to play!
Obviously W isn’t quite old enough for this game yet but it is recommended for ages 3 and up. Well, I’m a lot older than 3 and I can tell you that I enjoyed playing this game. I love logic and puzzles so this game is right up my alley. I also like it because you can play it by yourself! It is designed for 1 to 4 players and I may have played a few rounds on my own to practice learning how the pieces balance and work together. I wanted to be prepared to beat J! Yes, I can get a bit competitive!
