When Madware Attacks Get Norton Spot
Madware. I’ll be honest until a few weeks ago I had no idea what it was. None at all. I didn’t know I could be battling aggressive mobile adware, aka madware, on my Android phone. But when I got my new Samsung Galaxy S II, I started downloading more and more apps.
Madware is a problem unique to Android phone users. It uses aggressive techniques to place advertising in your Android device’s photo albums, calendar entries, and push messages to your notification bar. It can even replace your ringtone with an ad! Norton recently analyzed 1.5 million apps and saw a 210 percent increase in the number of apps including madware. So it’s becoming a big problem these days.

Norton Spot is Norton’s app solution for madware and it’s a free app. You can download it in the Google Play store. I downloaded it and within a minute was ready to scan my phone! The app discovered 7 apps and sorted them by level of annoyance. I ended up installing 2 or 3 that I don’t really use anymore. And I’m interested to see what impact it has on the performance of my phone.
If you’re concerned about madware on your Android phone, I recommend trying out Norton Spot to see what’s happening on your phone. I’m definitely glad that I know more about what’s going on with my apps. I feel more protected and more secure using my phone these days!
How many apps do you have on your phone?
Formula Mom Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Norton. I received a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.

Thanks for sharing! I just got a new “smart” phone and have already been filling it with apps! I just installed this one and am scanning now!
