Valentine’s Day Cake Balls Recipe
Love is in the air. My love of all things cake, that is. Yes, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to indulge in some sweets again. While I do enjoy chocolate from time to time, I’m much more about things like cake and cookies. But I love a good bite sized treat as well. So that’s why cake balls are one of my favorite goodies to make. This year I thought I’d share my Valentine’s Day Cake Balls recipe!
You can make these with any type of cake mix you like. But for Valentine’s Day, I try to find some cherry chip or strawberry cake mix to stick with the red, pink, and white color theme. These were made with cherry chip but I’ve done the strawberry dipped in vanilla and it is a fabulous combination too!
You can check out all of my cake ball combinations as well. Get inspired!

Shopping List
- 1 box Cherry Chip or Strawberry cake mix
- 12 ounces Diet Lemon Lime Soda (if doing my low calorie cake swap, otherwise prepare cake as directed on box)
- 1 can vanilla frosting
- 1 package white almond bark or white chocolate chips
- Sprinkles
- wax paper
In the Kitchen
- Mix the cake mix and soda together.
- Bake cake according to directions on the box.
- Allow cake to cool completely.
- Crumble cake in a large bowl.
- Add 1/2 can of frosting and mix thoroughly.
- Form cake and frosting mixture into balls and set on pan covered in wax paper.
- Place in freezer for 2-3 hours.
- Melt almond bark over low heat.
- Dip cake balls into almond bark and set on wax paper to cool.
- Sprinkle with your choice of sprinkles before the balls cool completely.
- Serve and have a happy Valentine's Day!

The thing I love about cake balls is that you can try pretty much any flavor combination that you want. We haven’t met a combination we didn’t like. You can also change up the sprinkles for different holidays or make a Valentine’s Day assortment with different types of sprinkles.
You could even get a bit of food coloring involved and turn an ordinary white cake into a pink cake for Valentine’s Day. Then make your cake balls. Or use pink candy melts!
What flavor combination would you try for your Valentine’s Day Cake Balls?

I love this! So much easier than buying a kit. I cannot stand to buy a kit for every little thing… there has to be a “less space taking in my kitchen” solution for them. Thank you! Now we CAN enjoy these goodies without purchasing an unnecessary kit!
