I doubt I’m alone in one of my most recent parenting challenges — the sippy cup! I never imagined that it would be so difficult to find sippy cups that didn’t just let my dear son pour his milk and water all over the floor at every single meal and snack. So many sippy cups claim to be spill-proof but I quickly learned that my definitely of spill-proof isn’t the same as some sippy cup makers. I was lucky enough to have discovered one brand of cups that worked well for us, but I was still on a quest. Recently I discovered a second brand that has proven to be able to stand up to my 16-month old whirlwind!

We Don’t Have to Wear Raincoats at Mealtime with Tommee Tippee Explora Li’l Sippees cups!

Tommee Tippee Explora sippy cups

The Tommee Tippee Explora Li’l Sippees Spill-Proof Sipper Cups are designed for leak proof, bite free sipping. The cups come in a variety of colors, including the red and blue set we received. I love the bright primary colors and prefer them to many of the cups that come with dinosaur or car prints for boys. All of the Li’l Sippees cups and Closer to Nature bottles have interchangeable lids and handles. We used Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature bottles when W was young so I like this feature a lot.

The first thing I did after opening the sippy cups is put them through the test that has become the one that quickly lets me know if a cup will work for us or not. It’s not very complicated at all, but quickly lets me know if I will be cleaning up puddles anytime W uses the cup. I filled one with water, turned it upside down, and shook it. No leaks!

Tommee Tippee Explora Li’l Sippees cups passed the upside down shake test without any leaks!

I knew that the cups would probably work well for us after that test, but I did have to let W try the cups. Some sippy cups require the child to bite on the spout to get a drink and he hasn’t quite mastered the ability to do that. I did drink from the cup and didn’t have to bite on the spout so I hoped he would be able to drink from it with ease and he did! W had no trouble drinking from the Tommee Tippee cups and we haven’t had any leaks when he’s using them!

Formula Mom Favorite Features

  • Soft spout — I know some teething toddlers just chew these spouts up but W prefers them.
  • One-piece spout and valve so there are no pieces to get lost while cleaning
  • Leak-proof!
  • Dishwasher safe and microwave safe

You can purchase Tommee Tippee products at Babies ‘R Us and Target. The Tommee Tippee Explora Li’l Sippees cups are available in a variety of color combinations that are great for both boys and girls. They retail for around $7.99 for a 2 pack.     ya i have gone through quite a few sippy cups with my son and daughter and it seems you find 1 out of the bunch that finally works easy for them to hold and no spill and also easy for them to drink out of =}

  2. Robyn Galloway says

Tommee tippee is actually my favorite because they don’t leak and hold up well! I love that they are sold at target now!

  3. Christina says

I don’t have a favorite sippy right now, when my 2 oldest were toddlers I loved these straw sippy cups we had but they don’t sell them anymore. I haven’t been able to find a cup that truly doesn’t leak with my youngest now. My favorite feature of the Explora is that it doesn’t leak! But I also love that it is a once piece valve – no pieces to take apart and clean!

  4. Beth R says

It is nice to see a leak proof and a dishwasher safe sippy! They don’t always come hand in hand. thank you!!

  5. Amanda Alvarado says

We have a couple of their sippy straw cups and dd loves them! They are the ones she asks for when clean!

I actually tried a couple different brands before a friend introduced us to Tommee Tippee — it was later in the game, so we never tried this model. But the others have served us very well — no leaks!!! ngiraldi at gmail dot com

It’s good to know of another brand of sippee cups that won’t either pour or shake their contents all over the house. I hope my local store carries these because I am always on the lookout for new sippee cups that will encourage my one-year-old granddaughter to drink from a cup instead of a bottle. Thank you

looks like i found the right product for the twins when it’s time for them to use sippy cups (they’re only 4 months now)
    great review :)

  9. Miranda Welle says

Looks like more fantastic products! I don’t have a favorite sippy cup brand. I just need one that DOES NOT LEAK!

  10. Chasity Boatman says

This would be great to have for my first son coming in October. This looks like a fantastic company. I like that these won’t get the contents of the cups all over the house.

  11. Joy Pablo says

I am on a hunt for a good sippy cup for my son. I have tried two so far that he just does not seem very interested in. Maybe these Explora cups are the answer!!

  12. Jenny Stanek says

I actually bought some Tommee Tippee cups for my kids when they were about 2. I was so tired of a million spills from so-called spill-proof cups, that seem to end up spilling milk all over my house! These ones were fantastic

  13. Amanda N. says

Dishwasher safe is a MUST in my book. I love that this one is also microwave safe. I always get nervous about the valves getting nasty so being able to sanitize in the microwave would be very nice! :-)

  14. Aura says

we used the tommee tippee bottles they made switching between nursing and bottle feeding so much easier. We had tried so many bottles and my son liked the tommee tippees best

  15. Alexandra Pitcher says

I have been on a sippy cup mission; I need to find one my son actually likes. He loves the soft spouts so we will be checking these out!

  16. Julie Ghrist says

Spill proof is my all time favorite feature on a sippy cup :) of course. I am having the hardest time finding a straw cup that the liquid does not come out of the straw when just sitting there. I would love to try out the tommee tippie straw cups

My favorite feature is of course the no leak! I love Tommee Tippee products, I have their bottles and bibs and accessories since i’m giving birth in 2 weeks, once my baby is born, i’ll begin to stock up on things he’ll need in a few months like these sippy cups! Thanks, great review! :)

    Dear Tommee Tippee,

I am a new mom, expecting my baby boy in 4 months. I would love to win the Sippy Cup(s) for future use. Thanks for your generosity in this giveaway! (o:

  20. Amanda Alvarado says

These would be passed on to my sister if I were to win because my dd would chew right through them! I could never use anything with a soft spout with her…ever! Even at 4, I have to look for a hard straw cup because she will chew up a soft one!

  21. Jessica O says

These sound similar to the 1 sippy I found for my daughter that works (I can’t even remember where I bought it!) but the soft spout is all she will take. I will have to look for these next time I am out!
