When W was born, J’s parents got us a small handheld camcorders that slips right into my pocket. It has been great for capturing those quick moments when we’re on the go. It has worked very well for us and I really didn’t see a need to have anything bigger until recently. As part of my Sony Ambassadorship, I had the opportunity to try the Sony HDRPJ260V Handycam Full HD Camcorder with built-in projector.

The camera has a number of great features including:
- Built-in Projector that turns any room into an instant home movie theater!
- Low-light sensitivity with improved image clarity that is designed to help you have better results in low lighting which is great for evening family get-togethers!
- Optical SteadyShot™ with Active Mode that compensates for more camera shake to help you achieve smoother videos!
- Wide Angle Lens and zoom that helps capture all of the action!
After reading a bit more about the camcorder, I knew I would be able to capture some great home videos even though I don’t have much experience with camcorders! I can tell you that from the moment I took the handycam out of the box, I have not been disappointed!

I have to be honest and admit that I didn’t take time to read any of the user manual when it was delivered. Instead I opened the box and got started! Since the camcorder is so extremely easy to use, I was chasing W around the house making movies in just a few minutes!
To get started, I just opened the LCD screen and pressed the record button. Yes, it was that simple! After a few days I realized that we probably didn’t need video of every single thing that W did and I did manage to calm down. I had definitely turned into that parent for a few days but I couldn’t help it! I love my son and I love trying great new technology! It didn’t hurt that the camcorder fits great in my hand and is easy to zoom in and out. The ease of use is definitely top-notch with the Sony Handycam.
The built-in projector was the feature that both J and I were interested in because we had never seen it in a camcorder before. Our friends and family always want to see new photos and videos of W but that’s where I get behind! Finding time to sit down and upload everything can be a challenge in a busy household!
The Sony Handycam reduces this challenge by making it very easy to share with family and friends, no matter where you are! Once you’ve recorded a video, you can easily share it by pressing the projector button on the camera! All I had to do was adjust the focus and we were ready to watch!

Yes, I took photos holding my camera in one hand and the handycam in the other hand to show you the navigation screen that comes up when using the projector. I enjoy being able to scroll through the files by date and by thumbnail. I’ll admit that sometimes I have no idea what I might have been recording but seeing W’s outfit or what we were doing is a great reminder.
Share memories with ease using the Sony Handycam built-in projector!
Although I love the projector feature on the camera, eventually I had to sit down and upload all of my files. The Sony Handycam is on loan to me (although I may be purchasing one when I have to return it) and I don’t want to return all of our memries when I return the camcorder! So I finally broke out the user manual to learn on how to transfer my videos and that is when I discovered my second favorite feature of the Sony Handycam. The camcorder features a built-in USB cable which means I don’t have to search my house each time I want to transfer my files!

The Sony Handycam has come to my rescue by including a short USB cable that stays on the camera. It also with a USB extension in case the shorter cord isn’t long enough for you and they easily connect together. The shorter cord attached to the camera was the perfect length for plugging into my laptop and I loved how simple it was!
The user manual has great tips on using the camera and saving your videos to your computer, an external device, or burning a DVD! It also has tips for getting the best recording for different types of lighting and locations. I cannot wait to use the Sony Handycam on our trip to San Antonio in June! There are going to be some incredible memories to capture and I have already enjoyed catching so many of the small moments with W!
I’m looking forward to using the Sony Handycam to capture all of our #SonyMemories this summer and I’m excited to share that the Sony Handycam is a PTPA award winner! This sounds like a great camcorder, I just hate having to lug around something so bulky, lol.
