I have started looking into ways to save money on food for my family. I have accepted the fact that I will never be an extreme coupon type person although I do use them casually on items we use regularly. We also try to make healthier choices when it comes to meals for the family. Sometimes I like to splurge a bit and one of my favorite low-cost meals to make for dinner is pancakes and bacon!
The sweetness of the syrup and richness of the pancakes (which I make with skim milk and sometimes a healthier pancake mix) combined with the savory of our turkey bacon convinces me that we’re splurging when really we are still eating on the lighter side in terms of calories. It’s also a fairly affordable meal. It’s definitely cheaper than eating out, right?
You can save money by going out to eat!
It’s not as straightforward as it sounds but it works! Recently I read about a woman who bought a pancake and bacon dinner for 8 people for less than $10 at a restaurant! Yes, you read that correctly! There is no way I could make my pancake and turkey bacon dinner for 8 people for under $10. I had never considered using the to-go at a buffet to purchase items for a larger meal. This is a fabulous idea for special events such as birthday parties and family dinners! It would definitely save me time and a little money!
Do you have any tricks for saving money feeding your family? What do you do when you need to make a lot of food for a lot of people on a small budget?
