Baby Can Learn with Rock ‘N Learn (Review)

Rock 'N LearnRock N’ Learn offers educational DVDs, CDs, and iPad Apps that capture children’s attention while teaching educational content including reading, phonics, writing, math, science, social studies, and foreign language. Rock ‘N Learn was started with the idea that putting educational material to modern music that kids enjoy would help them learn the material.

Numerous school districts have documented proof that the DVDs are effective and Rock N’ Learn continues to develop new products that help kids learn!

The variety of DVDs available at Rock N’ Learn is amazing and there is something for every child, no matter what age range. The Early Learning Collection is a four-volume set that addresses some of the basic concepts for early learners. The DVDs hold children’s interest while teaching colors, shapes, counting, animals, nursery rhymes, and the alphabet!

Rock 'N Learn Early Learning CollectionWe received the Early Learning Collection from Rock ‘N Learn and I was immediately impressed by the brightly colored packaging. It is appealing to children and made me excited to put one of the DVDs into the player and start watching!

The 4 DVDs included in the Early Learning Collection are:

  • Colors, Shapes & Counting DVD
  • Dance With the Animals DVD
  • Nursery Rhymes DVD
  • Alphabet Circus DVD
Dance with the Animals is designed to encourage children to dance along as it showcases fun music and a wide variety of animals. Although it is targeted towards preschool aged children, W enjoys the music and the animals so I think it’s appropriate for all ages.
The Nursery Rhymes DVD introduces an amazing number of nursery rhymes during the 40 minute video. Some of the nursery rhymes included are Humpty Dumpty, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Hey Diddle Diddle, and Pat-a-Cake. W also enjoys the music in this one although I think it is definitely better suited for the preschool children.
The Alphabet Circus DVD is one of my favorites. Each letter of the alphabet is featured in its own original song. I love anything that teaches the alphabet and incorporating music can really reach out to learners who might struggle with more traditional methods of learning. As an elementary teacher, this DVD really appeals to me.
Rock 'N Learn Colors, Shapes, & CountingThe Colors, Shapes & Counting DVD features wonderful music that definitely catches W’s attention. This is currently his favorite DVD of the four in the Early Learning package. When it starts he smiles and gets excited. Like anything he watches, he doesn’t watch for long before he turns his attention to something else. But as he’s playing he definitely watches this DVD more than he watches other things when they are on the television.
The Colors, Shapes & Counting DVD is aimed towards preschoolers but I think it’s another one that is appropriate for younger children. I love that it introduces three very important basic concepts by incorporating colors, shapes, and numbers. I also like that it includes the basic shapes as well as more challenging shapes. There is something for every child, no matter what their ability level.
If you’re looking for some new DVDs for your children or a child you know and would like something different and something with some educational benefit, I recommend the Rock ‘N Learn line of products. The Early Learning Collection is just a small sample of what they have to offer!
