Review: Motherlove Diaper Rash & Thrush Salve

While I haven’t completed telling my breastfeeding story quite yet, I can tell you that the Motherlove Herbal Company played a huge part in it. While trying everything I could find to build my supply, More Milk Plus from Motherlove was part of that effort. Although I don’t know if it had much of an effect on my supply, I appreciated the availability of the product and have always been interested in trying some of the other products offered by Motherlove.

All Motherlove products are made with certified organic herbs and ingredients. They offer a wide variety of products including products for during pregnancy and birth, for baby, and for breastfeeding. As a new mother who has used More Milk Plus, I definitely recommend checking out the breastfeeding products if you are looking for supplements or nipple cream.

I recently had the opportunity to try the Motherlove Diaper Rash & Thrush salve with W. I was interested in trying it because it is a rash cream that is safe for use with cloth diapers! I’m always on the hunt for cloth safe diaper creams that work well!

Motherlove Diaper Rash & Thrush Salve

This salve is an all-natural herbal salve that can be used for diaper rash and on the nipples for nursing mothers. I personally did not have a need to try it as a nipple cream as I am not breastfeeding any longer but I am interested in the fact that it serves multiple purposes. It can be used with all diaper types, including cloth, and is made with 96% certified organic ingredients.

We have already had a few opportunities to use the Motherlove Diaper Rash & Thrush salve with W. He is in a disposable at night right now and I do not change him during the night so we sometimes have some redness. I usually use CJ’s BUTTer with him and it always eases the redness by the end of the day if not by the next diaper change.

The last two times we have had some redness, I used the Motherlove salve instead of our CJ’s BUTTer.  The Motherlove salve is unscented. Its ingredients include extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, oregon grape root, myrrh gum, yarrow herb, and calendula flower. I felt very comfortable using it on W and using it with our cloth diapers based on the ingredient list.

The two times I have used it for redness on W, the redness has been gone by the next diaper change. I am pretty vigilant when it comes to any redness I happen to see on him so it never gets too bad. Still, it’s great to have a product that works well on the minor redness we do have  from time to time. So far it has also proven to be perfectly safe when it comes to our diapers. It has not left any residue, marks, or stains.

I definitely recommend the Motherlove Diaper Rash & Thrush salve if you’re looking for a cloth diaper safe cream. It is available for purchase on the Motherlove site and a 1 oz. jar costs $9.95. While this might seem expensive compared to the creams you can pick up at the grocery store, I can tell you that the jar is definitely going to last us a long time. I have a feeling I won’t be needing to purchase anymore for W but it will go on the shopping list if we have a second child!

Great review! Good to know this diaper rash cream works well with cloth diapers from someone who has tried it! I will definitely be getting some as the cream we are using right now isn’t helping much. He’s had a rash since Tuesday morning and it’s SLOWLY going away. I feel like it should be gone by now.

I’ve been trying to get rid of this horrable rash that turned into a yeast infection. I just felt so bad I tried everything, but the Dr gave me some prescriptions and that has helped but it still is lingering and driving my baby and I nuts. I’ve been cloth diapering %50 of the time and wanting to get to %90, so I’ve been wanting to invest in some cloth diaper friendly bum cream. This review has helped out. I’m liking the unscented, gentle, natural ingredients, 96% certified organic ingredients. and I like that it can be used for the nipples even though I’m done breastfeeding.

It’s definitely good stuff! Finding diaper rash treatments that are safe for cloth can be tricky. So glad this one is safe for cloth!
