Welcome to one of my new features for 2012 — Operation Organization! One of my goals for 2012 is to be a bit more organized and to get things done more efficiently. We moved into our new home at the end of October and there is plenty of organization to be done! That is the inspiration behind Operation Organization!
While I was driving to work today they were discussing birthday cards because one of the DJs had forgotten a friend’s birthday in the hustle of the holidays. A caller had a great suggestion for avoiding this issue in the future! Her suggestion for organizing birthday cards was to purchase them all at the beginning of the year!
Need help organizing birthday cards for the year? Buy them all in January, sign them, address them, stamp them, and you’ll be prepared!
She said that each year she goes through the calendar from the previous year and transfers all of the birthdays to the new calendar. She also makes a list of all the cards she needs before heading out to the greeting card store. She buys all of the cards she needs for the year and when she gets home she signs them and addresses them. She even adds a stamp and then keeps them all in a box so when the birthday pops up on the calendar all she has to do is drop the card in the mailbox!

That is a great idea, but I must admit I don’t know if I would do it. I use one of those online birthday calender sites that emails me and reminds me when someone’s birthday is coming up

I don’t think I would do it either because then I would probably misplace them all anyway! But I thought it was an interesting idea! I just write them on our calendar on the fridge at home and seem to do well.
