NIVEA Spa Party Playdate
Yes, you read that correctly. I decided to plan a NIVEA Spa Party Playdate. I know the words spa and playdate may not seem to go together, but sometimes there isn’t anyone to watch the little ones and you still want to try to relax a bit with your mom friends. So we make it work!
Originally I wanted to have a spa party with my mom friends but then a childcare issue came up. We’re flexible and I figured the kids could play while the moms enjoyed a little pampering and some tasty food. So, it was off to Sam’s Club to pick up some supplies.
I wanted to get some NIVEA at Sam’s Club because I wanted to offer mini manicures. I also needed some other beauty products (for the moms and kids) so everyone would have a little treat to take home with them.
And then food… we definitely needed food! I love that I am able to get great value on a ton of products at Sam’s. It makes spa party prep so easy! You can see my entire shopping trip in my NIVEA Sam’s Club value Google+ album.
Preparing for a Spa Playdate
I was excited to get home from family photos to start preparing the food for the NIVEA spa party. Unfortunately phone calls started to roll in as the stomach bug going around started to take its toll on some of the little ones. But a party cannot be stopped by a little stomach bug! I decided to still host the playdate even though a few moms couldn’t come. The rest still deserved some pampering!
Grambo helped me while I worked on the food. She set up the mini manicure station. I’m not a huge nails person but I thought it would be fun to have the chance to do our nails while we spent time together. I will admit that W might have gotten a manicure. But those photos are tucked away until he is a teenager!
Moms (and all parents) work so hard day in and day out. Parenting can be a huge challenge. While it’s worth every memory, moms still need a little down time every so often. That’s why I wanted to give my friends a little time to decompress together. The kids usually keep themselves pretty busy.
I loved that buying NIVEA at Sam’s Club was a convenient way to get enough for everyone at the party to use. Oh, and there was plenty leftover for me to keep in my bathroom. I lotion my skin at least twice a day, especially my feet and elbows. I cannot stand dry skin so having NIVEA on hand is key for me.
This is what W did while we prepared for the other moms and kids to come. I had woken him up early to drive across town for family photos. It was a good thing that he napped… or so I thought. Grambo and I were able to get everything set up without any extra help from him. Of course, he was also building up his energy reserves for the party. He woke up about 20 minutes before everyone arrived and was ready for some fun with his friends. After a fight to change into some play clothes, it was party time!
Spa Party Playdate Time!
If you’re planning your own NIVEA spa party and want to try to incorporate the kids, I have a warning. Although the weather might be beautiful, do not think letting the little ones play outside will leave any of the moms (or dads) feeling relaxed! I love to let W get outside and be active whenever the weather is nice. So without thinking, I suggested we let the little ones play outside. My friends agreed because apparently none of us were thinking about how that means we have to run around the cul-de-sac corralling kids. I blame the gorgeous weather. It clouded our thinking.
Luckily, J came out and helped us a bit. He’s good like that.
With kids on the run like this, things aren’t the most relaxing for mom. Still, it’s fun to see them so happy and alive. So we all agreed to let them play for a little bit. Of course, eventually we had to go inside. Normally that is a huge fight when it comes to W. He wants to stay outside with his friends. But since the friends were coming insider with us, he actually went willingly!
So we were able to let the kids get some energy out. And thanks to J, we were able to get them all back inside without too much effort. Even though I had planned a NIVEA mommy spa playdate, I’m glad Dad was around to help! He got his reward when we let him share all of our appetizers and (his favorite) sparkling grape juice!
Relaxing with a Mini Manicure Station
Once we finally got back inside, the kids played in the living room. We had all of the food, lotion, and nail polish set up in the kitchen and breakfast nook. So everyone was able to take a turn soaking their hands and painting their nails if they wanted. It was a nice set up that was very relaxed but also a lot of fun.
We had a lot of the nail polish already so I didn’t have to buy any. After the fact I thought of a fun idea that would have made our nail polish supply even bigger. It would have been fun to have everyone bring their favorite color to the party with them! Then we could have swapped and might have discovered new colors! I’m going to remember that for next time!
Grambo is probably going to smack me when she sees this photo! But she posed for it so I figure it’s fair game! While some of us painted our nails, the rest of us enjoyed our appetizers and drinks from Sam’s Club! Grambo really enjoyed the petite quiche! Hey, after chasing toddlers around outside for a while, everyone deserves to relax in any way they see fit… right?
Although it might not have gone exactly as planned, I think all of my friends had a lot of fun. It was great to get the kids together and it was great to spend time with my fellow moms. Even if we didn’t pamper ourselves quite as much as we would have liked, every little bit helps. We all agreed on that.
I loved how easy it was to plan and prepare for the party with Sam’s Club lotion and food. The NIVEA lotion and other beauty products were a hit with my friends too. I feel like I got great value for my money. We had plenty of lotion and food and I didn’t break our budget! What more could I ask for? Not much!
