My Pedometer Steps Per Mile Motivate Me #iHeartOmron

I’ve completed my first official week as an Omron Fitness Challenge ambassador. Last week I talked about what inspired me to get back into the lifestyle I lead before W was born. This week, motivation has been on my mind all week. Inspiration is wonderful but motivation is also key. And I can tell you that one thing has kept me motivated this week. Pedometer steps per mile. And discovering just how many steps I could log on my  Omron HJ-323U USB pedometer.

Do you know how many steps are in a mile? I’ve looked it up a few times this week. It turns out that there are about 2,000 steps in a mile. So my daily goal of 10,000 steps works out to about 5 miles. This can vary a bit based on stride length and other factors, but I like having a number in my head.

So my goal this week was to hit 70,000 steps or 10,000 per day. And I managed to meet my goal for 6 out of 7 days! And I exceeded the weekly goal of 70,000 without a problem. My pedometer photo in this post shows the long walk Grambo and I went on yesterday. We did over 10,000 steps during that walk alone because the weather was so gorgeous!

So what motivates you on a daily basis?

Is it a step goal? A calorie burned goal? Or maybe you’re all about the number on the scale. I’m still shrinking over here and lost just over half a pound this week. Since I applied for the #iHeartOmron fitness challenge, I’ve lost 10.8 pounds! That is definitely a motivator as well!

Tell me what motivates you to get active each day!

My motivation is travel. I used to travel when I was younger and it was amazing. I want to give my kids amazing experiences, but doing that requires being smaller so I’m not scared every time I buy a plane or train ticket – because someone, somewhere randomly might decide I need two seats (even though that’s never happened every time I think….it could….it could….)

way to go! Being able to physically SEE how much you are doing really helps!

right now, I am motivated by the weather…yes it is cold and crappy here in Illinois…but I know that warm weather is coming around and I want to look good and feel confident this summer! Plus that means SHOPPING!!!!
