Lipton Family Tea Time
Iced tea is a staple in our house. We are definitely a family tea time type of family! Our refrigerator normally has multiple pitches of iced tea in it. Before you start giving me the stink eye, it’s because we all like different variations on our iced tea. I prefer decaffeinated iced black tea and I sweeten each cup with sucralose. Grambo uses a drink mix to mix up raspberry iced tea. My aunt drinks unsweetened iced tea. It’s definitely family tea time over here!
But every so often, I stray from my routine and try something new. Plus, I need things to be easy and quick sometimes. Mariah in the kitchen means quick and easy, right? Well, it doesn’t get much easier than stirring the iced tea mix into some cold water! So when I learned about the Lipton Tea & Honey Pitcher Packets, I was ready to try them.
W’s birthday party is in less than 2 weeks, so I’m on the hunt for easy things to serve at the party!

Lipton Tea & Honey Pitcher Packets
Lipton Tea & Honey Pitcher Packets come in four flavors:
- Lemon Iced Black Tea
- Mango Pineapple Iced Black Tea
- Blackberry Pomegranate Iced Black Tea
- Peach Apricot Iced Black Tea
I love that there is variety in the flavor choices. I figured if we liked the Pitcher Packets, it would be easy to offer multiple drink flavors at W’s party. Perfect for family entertaining! But I decided to start with the classic lemon flavor because I wanted to try a recipe for Boston Iced Tea.
It calls for cranberry juice with the tea, but I spotted some apple cherry juice at Walmart. I thought I was onto something. Apple, cherry, and lemon sounds like a great fruity mix. You can see my entire #FamilyTeaTime shopping trip (including detours and distractions) to see what I had to choose from!

Inspired by the Refrigerator
Inspiration can hit anywhere. As I was putting away groceries, I spotted the opened bottle of grape juice in our refrigerator. And I knew what I had to do. Lemon iced tea and grape juice? It had to be done!
As a child, I remember drinking glass after glass (gallon after gallon) of purple kool-aid. It was a lemonade grape flavor. And it was one of my favorites. After a little hunting on the internet I was reminded that it was called Purplesaurus Rex!
I knew I had to try to make a more adult version of one of my favorite childhood drinks! It had to be done!

Make Your Own Purplesaurus Rex Iced Tea

ha! I love the name you use! Purplesaurus rex! lol. That is fantastic. I’m not an iced tea drinker, but I do drink herbal teas; which I always steep in juice. It just tastes better that way.
