If you have a little one, then you are probably familiar with The Jim Henson Company’s Dinosaur Train! Even W is interested in Dinosaur Train from time to time and he doesn’t really show much interest in television. When the Dinosaur Train theme song starts playing, he turns to check it out and watches the entire beginning. Some days he will watch even more.
If you haven’t seen Dinosaur Train, then you’re missing out because it’s a show that I even enjoy. Teaching first grade, I would always have at least one student who was into dinosaurs and I still remember the year that one of my students was a dinosaur fanatic! He could name dinosaur after dinosaur and spell most of the names too! Dinosaur Train is definitely great for those kids and the colors and characters can keep the attention of those who might not be quite as crazy about the dinosaur aspect.

Dinosaur Train Time Tunnel Mountain Set from Learning Curve
The Dinosaur Train Time Tunnel Mountain Set from Learning Curve is designed for children ages 3 and up. It has lights and sounds so it does require batteries. Make sure you have 2 AA batteries for this one! It also includes motorized train and 2 train cars. If your child is anything like W he likes anything that moves and if it moves on its own he is even more intrigued. The set features Buddy and Mr. Conductor Collectible figures as well so you have some figures to get started!
This set was fairly easy to set up but it does have some small pieces to be aware of when setting it up. We don’t have a train table or even a coffee table but the train worked well on our hardwood floors. If you have carpeting, I would suggest setting it up on some sort of table. I think the harder surface helps the train tracks stay together better. Setting up in our bedroom on the carpeting led to the train track falling apart repeatedly but once I put it on the harder floor, we didn’t have that trouble any longer.

The Dinosaur Train Keepsake Ornament from Hallmark is adorable! Yes, that was my first thought when I got Buddy out of his box. He looks exactly like the Buddy we know and love from Dinosaur Train!
This adorable Hallmark Keepsake ornament is available at Gold Crown and chain drug retailers for the suggested retail price of $12.95. I have not seen these at my favorite Gold Crown Hallmark but I am going to keep looking because this ornament would make a great gift!
We have a tree where we hang all of our Hallmark ornaments because J’s mom gives us a few each year so this will be a great addition. Once W is older enough I will add it to his collection so he can use it to decorate his little tree each year!
DINOSAUR TRAIN: T-REX TALES DVD available from PBS Home Video and Paramount Home Entertainment
If your child doesn’t get enough of Dinosaur Train when it’s on during the day, there is a great new Dinosaur Train DVD. In Dinosaur Train: T-Rex Tales, Buddy travels to Rexville, home of the Tyrannosaurus Rex dinosaurs, and learns that he too is a Tyrannosaurus!
The running time on this DVD is 115 minutes. The DVD includes a bonus holiday episode as well as interactive games, coloring pages, and Dr. Scott’s segments. There is also a reference guide for parents included. Personally, I enjoyed finding a holiday episode because I have a soft spot for holiday episodes of shows. I have always liked them!

My 6year old son is probably the youngest Paleontologist and he started with Dinosaur Train, he loves the Paleontologist who speaks. He will go through the alphabet and name a few dinosaur names properly from A to Z. He lives and breaths Dinosaur Train, but wishes to get the Dinosaur Track and the DVD’s one day.
