Blooming Buddies In the Garden: A Blooming Book of Verse is a book for children that combines bright, whimsical illustrations with text that flows and rhymes. This makes it a great book for kids, especially for that little girl in your life that loves flowers and nature.
Written by Wendy Peterson and illustrated by Deborah Donner, this book is full of positivity and child-safe images and messages. It’s about friendship and respecting each other but the message is conveyed without the book feeling like it is preaching. The book is 32 pages long but each page has a limited amount of text so it is not daunting for the young child. If you’re dealing with a younger toddler like I am, reading the book is tricky because he wants to tug at the pages while we read. We are fairly limited to board books right now although he eats through those too! Still, this was fun to read with W and he seemed to enjoy the rhyming scheme of the story.
Blooming Buddies has received the Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA) Award for 2011 and the National Parenting Center: Seal of Approval for 2011! I love so many of the PTPA Award winners so it was great to have the opportunity to try the Blooming Buddies book!
