Have you ever been driving down the highway and noticed a wall that was disgustingly dirty? This happens often for me living in a large city like Houston. Some areas have beautiful stonework lining the highways and others look like they could use a good power washing. What if those dirty city walls could be turned into a work of art?

Graffiti has gone clean with the Reverse Graffiti Project and Green Works!

Reverse graffiti, or “clean tagging,” is a method of creating art by removing dirt and grime from a filthy surface. The idea behind “clean tagging” was to turn cleaning into an art form and show that cleaning can be beautiful. This is the mantra of Green Works.

Cleaning can be beautiful.

A high-traffic, extremely dirty, and large spot in San Francisco, the Broadway Tunnel, was chosen to become the canvas for a live 140-foot Green Works product demonstration of reverse graffiti. Green Works utilized Paul “Moose” Curtis, a British pioneer of an art form called “clean tagging,” to help realize their vision. Green Works products are at least 95 percent plant-based, so they decided to reverse out a mural of plants and trees on a dirty city wall. What a perfect theme for Green Works!
