I am thrilled to share that for the next few months I will be a Skype brand ambassador! Skype is a huge part of my life because my dad and stepmom live in North Carolina while we’re here in Texas. I don’t want them to be completely out of the loop when it comes to seeing W grow up. Skype helps us stay connected! It’s also helped us connect with W’s great grandparents in Illinois as well! Skype is also great for text chat as well and I’ve been known to use it on more than a few occasions! It helps me stay connected with my friends and family across the country!
One of my most recent Skype memories was when my dad was in Illinois visiting my grandparents. I haven’t seen my grandparents in a very long time. To be honest, I cannot remember the last time I had the chance to visit them. It was definitely long before I got married so it was at least 5 or 6 years ago. On his last trip to visit, he convinced them to Skype with W and I. They were able to see him and I was able to see my grandparents and some of my cousins as well! It was a great way to reconnect even though we are all so far apart.
Skype helps bring families together no matter the distance between them!
Holidays like Mother’s Day make Skype even more valuable! Right now you can visit Skype’s “Mom You Rock” Facebook page and send a video message to a mom in your life! I will be putting together a very special message for my mom as she prepares for her first Mother’s Day after the death of my younger sister. It will be a tough one but hopefully I can lift her spirits just a bit.
I also plan to connect with my stepmom on Mother’s Day using Skype. Sure, a card is nice but I know that having the opportunity to see W and how he has changed since she last saw him in March is a much more meaningful gift for her. The moments they share are few and far between but so precious. W cannot write in a card but he loves seeing himself and people he knows on video so Skype is perfect for my toddler too!
You can learn more about Skype by visiting the Skype Facebook page. I cannot wait to share more of my Skype stories with you over the next few months! Did you know that in addition to connecting with your friends and family members, Skype also has great educational potential for your kids? There is so much you can do with it!
Have you used Skype in the past? Who do you Skype with most often?
Formula Mom Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Skype. I received Skype credits to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating.

I have signed up, etc, but still have yet to actually try it out. I’ll have to do a practice skype with my mom soon!

while my husband was in the military we used it literally all the time. I would have skype dates with family members that lived half way across the country so they could see how our daughter was growing. And when my husband was deployed it was our lifeline to seeing him once in awhile, which was a real treat. I don’t use it so much now that my husband is home for good and we moved back by family, but the past 4 years it really helped us stay connected with everyone important in our life.
