Make Spring Green with Cloth Diapers

About 6 months ago, I ran across Glow Bug Cloth Diapers while on a quest to find affordable cloth diapers. The catch was that I wanted cute and affordable cloth diapers for my little boy. Finding cloth diapers made with cute prints that were also less than $15 a diaper was proving to be a challenge until I discovered Glow Bug Cloth Diapers. At Glow Bug you can get a package of 12 diapers for $150! That works out to be $12.50 a diaper! As part of the package, you also receive 24 inserts and a coordinating wet bag! It’s everything that you need to get started!

My favorite part about the Glow Bug Cloth Diapers is the fact that you don’t have to settle for plain white cloth diapers or a collection of pastel yellows, blues, and greens. You can had a variety of amazingly fun prints, even if you’re cloth diapering a little boy! Finding great prints for boys that aren’t $25 – $35 a diaper has been one of my biggest cloth diaper challenges! Yes, I love the cute factor when it comes to cloth diapering.

Glow Bug Cloth Diapers offers affordable diapers with cute prints for both boys and girls!

I also like the gender neutral package they offer because it has my favorite diaper colors! I love red, orange, and black diapers! I could have easily purchased a boy package and a spectrum package and had an amazing diaper stash for $300!

Back in October when I first reviewed Glow Bug Cloth Diapers, W was only 10 months old and he was still at the top of the growth charts but had actually dropped to around the 93rd percentile. The diaper worked well for us back then. It had a high rise that was exactly what we needed. It was also snaps which I wasn’t thrilled about at the time, but is now an essential feature for us if we don’t want a naked toddler running around! Now that W is 35 pounds, which is the weight limit for most one size diapers, I’m very interested in seeing how they work for us.

When I first opened the envelope from Glow Bug, I was thrilled! I love the print and it goes great with W’s rock and roll type shirts! It may not be for everyone, but we love it! I was eager to prep the diaper and try it on him. I was hoping that since the Glow Bug Cloth Diapers were generously sized, that the new one would fit W even though he is as big as most two-year olds we know!

Using the outer snaps, the diaper did fit W and the rise was just high enough although if he gets much taller, we might have some trouble! For general information, W was 32.5 inches tall at his checkup about a month ago so he is definitely on the tall side! We did not have any leaks while he was wearing it, which is one of my biggest concerns. We have a little room to grow with the snaps but not much in the rise although everyone keeps telling me that W’s growth will slow down soon! They have been saying this for 6 months and I’m still waiting!

I love the boy prints, two openings for the pocket, and double leg gussets! I do, however, wish they could be purchased individually. I am new to cloth diapering and would like to try different brands and styles before stocking up on one company’s product.

I have not tried the glow bug diapers, but I have come to love the double gussets and the opeining at each end especially since that means you don’t have to take the insert out before throwing it in the wash and it will agitate out by itself!

I don’t know much about Cloth Diapers but I’m looking to “finish up” with them. I do know that I love all the vibrant colours and designs. Not boring like disposables (and we won’t even get into the enviornmetal impact).

I am so with you about finding affordable pockets. I refuse to pay more than $13 for a diaper. So I’ll often look for seconds sales or BOGO. I try not to get sucked in with “get a free diaper” coupons when you spend a certain amount. It’s hard when CD is so addicting!

  13. Kristin W says

It is so cool that it has worked out for you this far. I have always wondered how long it would last and if they would look cute and unique at an affordable price!

I have been looking for ways to boost my stash since I got pregnant with our second and have only recently discovered glow bug. If we’re having another boy, those adorable prints are in my future!

  17. Cindy B says

This is one of the diapers I refer friends to that use cost as one of their limiting factors when it comes to cloth diapering… thanks for a great review and product.

  18. Kelly Evans says

I love that they have 2 pockets to be able to stuff them I have a skinnier lil man so these look like they woudl fit him well.

  19. Rachel G says

I like that they have so many print options. And the prices are great too! I think the skull print you reviewed was so cute :)

  20. Amanda Alvarado says

I love that print! It’s great to know that this diaper will fit a bigger baby! I know my dd outgrew most of hers when we were potty training and it was a PITA finding ones that she could wear overnight. I think we rotated through 3-4 diapers for nights for a long time because we just didn’t have any others that fit. She is thankfully completely potty trained now though and we are keeping our fingers crossed for another new baby sister or brother for her!

Love the idea of cloth diapers but i haven’t ever been able to afford them, these look more affordable than most and so cute!

  22. Betty Curran says

I really liked your review and the photos are great. I’d be very interested to see the review in a couple of months to see if he has outgrown the diaper or if his growth has slowed down so you can use them longer.
