Family Friendly Travel with Embassy Suites
As I mentioned earlier this summer, I am an ambassador for Embassy Suites. This has been great because we have taken a lot of mini vacations to local cities and attractions. It is a great way to explore and create fabulous memories with the family. Plus it doesn’t cost as much to travel locally.
As we have traveled with W this year, I’ve learned that there are a few must-haves for me. When it comes to staying at a hotel with a toddler, a mini fridge is on that list! It helps save us money because we can shop at a local grocery store for drinks and snacks. I could not survive life with a toddler without drinks and snacks!
I’ve also come to appreciate complimentary continental breakfast. It saves us money by crossing at least one meal a day off the list while we’re traveling. Food costs add up so quickly when you’re on the road!
Embassy Suites Houston Downtown
We had the opportunity to make the trip to downtown Houston and spend the night at Embassy Suites Houston Downtown. The hotel is located right near Discovery Green which often features free entertainment and family events and activities. You know how I love affordable things to do with the family! Why spend money when you can create memories for free? But back to the hotel.
I was excited because many of the basic features of Embassy Suites hotels meet our needs.
Two Room Suites
While this is not a must-have for me, it makes life on the road much nicer. W is active and loves to have room to spread out and play. Having a two room suite means there is enough space for all of us! I was able to stretch out on a bed and relax for a few minutes while W drove his cars on the sofa. I will take as many minutes as I can get!
The suite also meant we had a small kitchen area which was perfect for the drinks and snacks we brought from home! Seriously, this is one of my favorite things about this type of hotel. It’s the reason I know look for hotels with suites when planning travel with my family!
Recently we have enjoyed breakfast offerings at a number of local Texas hotels. Embassy Suites definitely ranked up there as a great way to start the day! Since we were only on an overnight trip, it meant we only had to pay for dinner once. We were back home for lunch so I loved not having to worry about getting something for breakfast. They had bananas so W was happy!
Embassy Suites also offers nightly Manager’s Receptions with complimentary appetizers and beverages. We didn’t get to enjoy that but I have a feeling it would have been a great way to help the family make it to dinner time if you had been on the road for a while!
Summer Travel Must-Have
To survive the hot Houston summer, a pool is a must-have and traveling doesn’t change that fact! I loved that the Embassy Suites Houston Downtown featured a pool area that was clean and easy to access. W enjoyed some time at a local splash pad but then was more than happy to spend some time around the pool.
To make it even better, a hotel with a pool area provides built-in entertainment without spending more money! You can make some fabulous memories around the pool! It’s also a great way to unwind if your children will give you the chance!
Family Friendly Travel Advice
My advice for traveling with the family is to find a hotel that meets your needs. I find that by choosing one like Embassy Suites we get some conveniences that make trips a bit more relaxing for me as a mom. It’s definitely worth it! Complimentary food, great pools, and plenty of space to play are musts and we got them at the Embassy Suites Houston Downtown!
Get the most out of your family vacation and don’t forget to charge the camera before you go! You want to be able to catch all of those great family memories! Then you can cherish them forever or just have a lot of photos saved on your hard drive. Oh wait… am I the only with that challenge?
