Easy Microwave Smores
Yes, you read that correctly. I made S’mores in the microwave. Just another quick tip for busy moms! If you want a quick, sweet treat but don’t have time for the campfire, consider easy microwave smores!
I can understand why some people might have their doubts. But when I received a delicious S’mores kit from Hershey’s as part of Camp Bondfire, I knew that an actual fire might not be in the cards for my family.
HERSHEY’S CAMP BONDFIRE
While I was at BlogHer ’12 in NYC this summer, I had the opportunity to enjoy a delicious S’more while visiting with Hershey’s. I had a blast hanging out with one of my best blogging friends and enjoying a tasty treat! It inspired me to bring HERSHEY’S CAMP BONDFIRE home to my family!
The original plan was to enjoy our s’mores outside after a family picnic dinner. But sometimes the weather doesn’t quite cooperate. We definitely needed the rain so I was willing to change it up! I’ll admit that I wasn’t sure how we would pull together indoor s’mores. I was debating the oven when I noticed directions for microwave s’mores on the back of the marshallow bag!
Make Your Own Microwave Smores
It’s super easy to make your own microwave smores!
What you need to make 4 s’mores:
- 8 Graham cracker squares
- 1 Hershey’s milk chocolate bar (divided into 4 pieces)
- 4 large marshmallows
What you do:
- Place 4 graham cracker squares on a microwave-safe plate.
- Top each with a square of chocolate and a marshmallow.
- Microwave for 10-15 seconds (until marshmallow begins to expand).
- Remove from microwave and press remaining graham cracker squares on top.
It’s that easy! Sure, you don’t get the toasty edges on the marshmallow like you do with a campfire. But you still get that great mix of flavors in less than a minute! It’s definitely a great alternative and a quick way to give the family a sweet treat! Older kids can even help in the prep!
I was worried about how well the chocolate would melt out of the microwave. But it worked great to put the chocolate and marshmallow in the microwave together. Then the squish of the graham cracker on top, made it all gooey. The gooey is what I love about eating s’mores!
Family Approved
Grambo enjoyed her microwave s’mores experience! She also commented on the slight difference in the marshmallow. But it wasn’t enough to make her stop eating hers! She got just as messy as she would have eating outside! Just proof that s’mores are fun no matter your age!
J approved as well! Of course, he loves pretty much anything I make so I didn’t expect anything less from him! That’s what great husbands are for, right? What I love about using the microwave is that we can make s’mores any time during the year. No matter what the weather we can throw them together. They would be a great addition to family game night or movie night!
W wasn’t quite as sure about the whole s’mores situation but he was more than willing to steal all of the marshmallows. The dogs were on standby as well. They were trying to catch any crumbs they could find. I was worried about them eating chocolate. But in the end, they didn’t get anything because we ate every last crumb!
So even though I was a bit skeptical at first. Our easy microwave smores turned out to be a huge success! I have a feeling we’ll be making them again! They were so simple and clean up was a breeze! That’s something I love anytime we’re spending an evening together as a family. I don’t want to be stuck in the kitchen cleaning!

Still my favorite #1 snack after all these years. Sometimes I add walnuts or cinnamon
to them to change them up. However you have them they are always great! I’ve even
used hershey kisses & hugs on them super good.
