Easy Halloween Breakfast
Although Halloween might not be the biggest holiday of them all, I still want to do fun things when I can. Now that I’m a mom and W is getting older, I seem to have spent the entire month of October on the hunt for Halloween ideas! I have been scouring the grocery store when we go. But I still hadn’t found much that I liked. I wanted to do something special for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But I also like things easy. I needed an easy Halloween breakfast idea STAT!
Sure, there is plenty of candy and costumes in stores right now, but I wanted something different. I’m not going to give W a candy bar for breakfast (even if he’d like that). So that’s why I headed to Walgreens. In the past, I’ve depended on Walgreens when I needed to make goodie bags for things at school. So I was hoping they would be able to help me come up with some special little things to do with W this year.
Walgreens Balance Rewards
I’ll admit that I was also eager to try out the Balance Rewards program at Walgreens. I signed up using the Walgreens app and within minutes I was ready to get into the store to see where I can save. I will admit that I signed up on my phone while sitting in the parking lot of the store. It was that easy!
You can also sign up in the store as well. And my store had plenty of signage to remind me of that! I love that they really want to help me save money! Combined with the great variety of products I can pick up at the store, I just might be shopping at Walgreens more often!
I was thrilled to see the deal I could get on bags of Brach’s Mellowcreme Pumpkins! Grambo loves them and will eat them until she feels sick. It’s a problem, yes. But luckily she only has the problem once a year! We also use them and candy corn for Halloween decorating. They are great for creating centerpieces! You can see more in my Walgreens #BalanceRewards Halloween Google+ album!
So I love being able to get 2 bags for $3. And at Walgreens I can earn 500 points with my Balance Rewards loyalty card as well. Saving those points earns me more money to spend. What more could I ask for? Not much!
Making Halloween Breakfast
Our easy Halloween breakfast started with the Hungry Jack Easy Pack Halloween Funfetti Pancake mix I picked up at Walmart. For $1.29 it makes 12 pancakes according to the package. When J makes pancakes he usually makes about 12 and shares with W and I. So one package was all we needed for our breakfast.
The thing that makes these so easy is that all you have to add is water! No eggs or anything like that! Just water and mix! So J got to work while the griddle warmed up.
I love when he makes pancakes because it’s a super easy meal for me. Sometimes I might make bacon or eggs while he works on the flapjacks, but usually I just watch. I’m usually the one in the kitchen putting things together. So it’s nice to take a break sometimes! J is much better at making pancakes than I am too. He also enjoys it so everyone wins!
J ended up getting 11 pancakes out of the mix. It was the perfect amount for just the 3 of us. If Grambo and Mimi were eating with us, two packages would have more than covered us! So it’s a cheap breakfast as well! Easy and affordable Halloween breakfast. Now that is the way I like to make new memories!
Making Halloween Memories
We had a great Sunday morning breakfast. Although Halloween is in the middle of the week this year, it is a fun way to celebrate. Now I have all sorts of ideas for making easy Halloween breakfast. I’m considering food coloring to make orange pancakes. I thought they could be cute using a pumpkin shaped cookie cutter on the griddle!
I’m wondering if I could use the cookie cutter on toast too. Orange marmalade would make it orange! So many ideas! All it took to get me going was a little inspiration from Walgreens!
Tell me about your Halloween traditions!
