Champions for Kids
One of my favorite causes to blog for is Champions for Kids. Kids are my life. From W to my students at school, children are dear to my heart. When I hear about children in need, it tugs at my heart. Although my family gives throughout the year, as the holidays grow closer I am more and more aware of how blessed we are.
When I look at W, I am thankful that he is healthy and whole. I am thankful that I get to spend so much time with him each day. Unfortunately not everyone parent has the things that I do. Those are the families that are constantly on my mind.

Dial into Giving
This month I participated in the Dial Into Giving Simple Service Project with Champions for Kids. My mission was to collect personal care items for children in need. From soaps and shampoos to deodorant and toothpaste, I was on a mission to collect items for a particular family.

There is a family at Grambo’s church whose father was just deployed. They have a daughter about W’s age. So that leaves mom back home here with a toddler. The little girl suffers from a condition that causes brain tumors. I can only imagine what it’s like to temporarily be a single mom while caring for an ill child.
When Grambo told me about the family, it touched my heart. I knew I wanted to help the little girl. The church was already collecting items to send to the father and his fellow soldiers. So I headed out to Walmart to check out the Dial products and see what I could gather for the little girl and her mother.

I was inspired by some new Hello Kitty Dial products I found on the shelf. So I decided to put together a basket of girly things for mom and daughter. I was on the hunt for pink and white Dial products and other goodies. It wasn’t difficult to find them at all! As I shopped with Grambo we grew more and more excited.
That was when we hatched the plan to get her Women’s Group involved. While the church was collecting donations for the family’s dad, the Women’s Group could collect items for the other members of the family — the girls!

Community Coming Together
It was great to get even more people involved in the #DialCFK Simple Service Project this month. The ladies were more than willing to help out and started bringing things in as soon as Grambo mentioned the project to them. The church has truly taken the family under their wing. It’s more than just giving during the holiday season.
It’s about caring for the community and people in need. It’s a beautiful thing.

Dial Soaps Care Kit
Grambo and I put together a cute basket of all the pink and white Dial Soaps and goodies we had purchased. I was pretty proud of our little gift basket. While it wouldn’t be everything the mom and daughter needed, it would be a fun little way to feel pampered together.
But my mind was blown when the donations from the Women’s Group arrived at our house. I was floored by the generosity and the caring they showed for others through giving.

We collected an amazing collection of items for the family. From personal care items like Dial Soaps and pampering items like nail polish and makeup for mom to baby wipes and baby food, it seemed like every area was covered. Someone even brought some Halloween goodies.
So in addition to the Girls Care Kit we put together, I had a second box of goodies for my mom to take to the family!

Simple Service Project
I had a wonderful time doing this Champions for Kids Simple Service Project with my mom. I cannot wait to hear about her experience when she meets with the family. It is wonderful to know that we are making a difference one family at a time in our area. Every little bit helps and can change a family’s day.

What an amazing basket of items… love that you found so much pink and white (and the Hello Kitty items are so cute)! Such a great way to get involved and give back. I give here and there throughout the year to charities in general but would love to do something special for a specific family this holiday.
