Recently I was reading through the posts at Rachel Cotterill and her recent visit to the beautiful St. Andrews Old Course Hotel got me thinking about a trip that my family have coming up next weekend! On Thursday, we’ll be headed out for beautiful San Antonio for the first time as a family. The last time J and I were there, we were celebrating our second wedding anniversary. Now, nearly two years later, we will be joined by Grambo and W! I’m looking forward to having some great family adventures this weekend!

The historic Crockett Hotel

We’re being treated to a room for the weekend at the Crockett Hotel which is located just steps from the Alamo and across the street from the RiverCenter Mall! It’s a historic hotel that stands where Davy Crockett and an outnumbered group of Texas settlers defended the southeast palisade of the Alamo during a 13-day siege in 1836.  In 1982, the hotel was renovated to preserve its original grandeur and earned a place on the National Register of Historic Structures. In 2007 the hotel was renovated once again and I am looking forward to check it out this weekend! I have walked past the Crockett Hotel on numerous occasions and always admired the building so I’m happy to have the chance to finally check it out!

We plan to spend plenty of time on the Riverwalk and at Sea World San Antonio this weekend! It will be great to have such a gorgeous hotel to return to at the end of the day! I will be sure to keep you updated on all of our San Antonio adventures! It’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for an affordable family vacation!

Have you been to San Antonio? Would you like to stay at the historic Crockett Hotel?
