This recipe came about after two things happened. First, I won 6 pounds of frozen meatballs from a recipe contest at RecipeLion.com. Second, I received the latest issue of Better Homes & Gardens magazine. Noe I am always happy to win recipe contests and I can always use free food, but six pounds of meatballs go a long way in a family of three and I didn’t want to be fixing spaghetti every week for the next few months!
You can imagine my excitement when I found the Apple Glazed Meatballs recipe in the magazine and knew it would be a great use for some of those meatballs! I served these as a meat dish for supper, but the magazine was featuring them as an appetizer, and I think a big bowl of them would be a huge hit at your next party!
The glaze is sweet with just a hint of tang from the ginger and clings to the meatballs so you get a little in every bite. It also gives them a slight “crust” on the outside while keeping the inside tender and moist. I also loved the fact the glaze was apple juice based because it’s something I always have on hand for Alex. I don’t mind buying ingredients for one recipe, but I get really annoyed with myself when I can’t find other things to make with them and they end up being wasted. If you’re looking for something to serve your next party guests or also have a huge bag of meatballs in your freezer, these are perfect for you too!

Apple Glazed Meatballs
What you need:
- 24 frozen meatballs (I figured 8 for each of us as a dinner sized portion)
- 1 c. apple juice
- 1/4 c. soy sauce
- 3 TBS packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 6 green onions, chopped
What you do:
- Place frozen meatballs in Crock-Pot.
- In a bowl, whisk together apple juice, soy sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and ginger.
- In a skillet over medium heat, bring sauce to a boil.
- Cook and stir for 2 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Pour over meatballs.
- Cook on high for 2 hours.
- Reduce heat to low and cook 1 additional hour.
- Transfer meatballs to a serving bowl. Pour remaining sauce over top. Sprinkle with green onions.
Please note: I followed the directions on my bag of frozen meatballs. Check yours for cooking times.

I would have never thought of using apple juice in meatballs – yummy!
I love Crockpot recipes, especially meatball recipes! I made some in December using barbeque sauce and they were a hit at W’s birthday party!
We love eating and making meatballs around here so I’m definitely going to give this a go
